New Canvas Tools! YES!

Canvas friends,

Over the past few weeks, there have been several new additions to Canvas that Brad Kafer and I have been working on. I want to point out some of the new things that you can now take advantage of! Here are a few of the new features added:

1. MATHTYPE |  MathType is a software application created by Design Science that allows the creation of mathematical notation for inclusion in desktop and web applications.We have enabled this feature and it can be found under the small blue "v" on any of the content pages.
   
2. EQUATIO  |  EquatIO software allows you to create mathematical equations, formulas and more directly on your computer. Simply type, handwrite or dictate any expression, and EquatIO will convert it to accurate digital math. We have also enabled this feature and it can be found also under the small blue "v" (more external tools) on any of the content pages. 
3. COPY TO  |  The Copy To feature was added a few weeks ago, but this tool allows you to easily copy one assignment to another course with a click of a button. Locate the ASSIGNMENTS tab or DISCUSSIONS tab and click on the kabob (three dots) to find the COPY TO function. Those of you who used this tool before, know that it was difficult to determine what course you were copying to as the section/term was missing in the name. That has been fixed! (Thanks Ahmet!) Now, you will be able to find the correct course and copy it over with ease.
   
4. PRONOUNS  |  You can now turn on Pronouns for your account. Click on your ACCOUNT (photo icon in the top left) and then select SETTINGS. You can edit your settings on the right and then change your Pronoun at the top of the page. Your Pronoun will be displayed in your course.
   
5. FOLIO  |  Portfolium has now been enabled! If your students want to create a portfolio, search for a job, share their intellectual content - they now can do so with ease! Have your students (or you!) go to your ACCOUNT and select FOLIO to get started. It's easy and fun and a great project for students! Let me know if you have questions on this - glad to help you navigate this.
   
6. SHARED CONTENT  |  You can now share content with colleagues from your Canvas course. Have a discussion or assignment that you would like to share with your peers? Easy! Locate the assignment, discussion or quiz and click the kabob (three dots) and choose "SEND TO", type your colleagues email or name to send. To access Shared Content, click on your Account (top left) and then click SHARED CONTENT. Import to any course you like.
   
7. EDIT DUE DATES IN BULK  |  We have enabled a feature to allow you to edit all of your assignment due dates at one time! To use this feature, click on ASSIGNMENTS. Then, from the top, select the kabob at top right and choose "EDIT ASSIGNMENTS DATES". There you go - edit all published assignments at one time. =)  You're welcome.
   

NEW FEATURES COMING!

We will be deploying an accessibility checker called UDOIT to Canvas this next week. The Canvas UDOIT tool allows you to check accessibility in your Canvas course with one click and then UFIXIT will allow you to fix errors with a click of a button. Easy Peasy. I'll be sharing more information on this tool, soon!
