Certificate Offerings for Fall 2021

We have two online certificate offerings this semester led by Dr. Wayne Bass and Dr. Manju Kishore. Both online certificates are a microcredential whereas you will be awarded a digital badge, learn more about our badges here

The certificates are:

Assessment Certificate

Facilitated by Dr. Wayne Bass

This is an in-depth review of Assessment strategies and best practices when designing and developing authentic assessments. Students will review the four categories of assessment in addition to alignment methods, course map building and creating Canvas outcomes. In addition, students will be asked to design and develop their own authentic assessments for a course of their choosing. In addition, students will apply best practices to rubric development and other evaluation metrics. This course is intended to provide you with more than just the tools and knowledge that you will need to design quality assessments. The course is also intended to provide both you and your students the best opportunity for a successful and rewarding learning experience. It is also designed to create a network of peers who can support one another after the completion of the certification process. 

Instructional Design & Delivery Certificate

Facilitated by Dr. Manju Kishore

This is an in-depth review of Instructional Design foundations including conceptual and theoretical foundations of instructional design as well as the analysis aspect of instructional systems design in order to create an innovative instructional solution to performance problems in your own course development. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: 

  • Describe the major concepts of instructional systems design 
  • Describe the major learning and instructional theories 
  • Describe the process of instructional design and instructional design models
  • Describe various analysis activities for instructional design
  • Develop a Course Map using best practices in Instructional Design
  • Identify trends and themes related to Instructional Design
  • Develop a course module utilizing the best practices of course design in Quality Matter.
  • Develop assignments/assessments utilizing best practices of instructional design 

This course is intended to provide you with more than just the tools and knowledge that you will need to design quality online courses. The course is also intended to provide both you and your students the best opportunity for a successful and rewarding learning experience by understanding the theories behind good instructional design practices.
