Canvas Release 10-19

Hello Canvas Community!

You may have noticed some minor changes in Canvas over the weekend, there was a Canvas Release that took place 10-19-19. Here are some of the modifications:

New Features
  • Commons: Admin Account Statistics
  • Notifications: Slack Integration
Updated Features
  • Analytics: New Course and User Analytics
  • Conferences: BigBlueButton Interface Private Chat Restriction
  • Rich Content Editor: Rich Content Editor Interface Enhancements [DELAYED AS OF 2019-10-18]
  • User Settings: CSV Report Localization
 Other Updates
  • Navigation: Menu Visibility
  • New Gradebook: Post Policy Icon Updates
 Platform/Integration
  • Account Navigation: Data Services Portal
The biggest difference you will see is the navigation bar inside canvas now will show "eyeballs" instead of being gray when you are NOT using one of the menu items. You'll also notice a vertical bar that appears beside the menu item that you are on.

Another newly added feature is Slack, which some of our students LOVE. It's a tool that allows you to organize your work flow and have communication within teams. You can now set your Slack notifications in Canvas.

If you are NOT using the New Gradebook, remember that the old Gradebook will go away on January 18th. There are not many differences between the old and new, but there are some visual changes. Attend a Gradebook training to learn more about the New Gradebook. You can also turn the New Gradebook on by going to SETTINGS - FEATURE OPTIONS - NEW GRADEBOOK.
