Zoom Tutorial for STUDENTS

Good morning,

This week we were able to secure a Zoom license for all employees at Heartland CC including students! Here is a quick tutorial to help students get started. In addition, this tutorial has been made in Canvas and you can share this from Canvas Commons. I'll share how to do this at the end of the blog post.

Accessing Zoom through Canvas

This tutorial will show you how to access meetings in Zoom through Canvas. You will need to know how to do this if your instructor is using Zoom within your course.

  • Once you are logged into your class, you will need to click the “Zoom” link.

  •  After clicking Zoom, you will see any meetings that your instructor has scheduled. Simply click “join” to get started with your meeting.

  • Your next step will be to fill out the information below and then JOIN your meeting!

  • You will now be prompted to open Zoom. If you do not see that option, make sure to use “click here” or “download & run Zoom”.

  • You will now be inside of your zoom meeting with your instructor.  You will have the option to share screens, and ask your instructor questions about your work.  Additionally, you have the option to talk with each other, chat using text features, and share webcams.

To download this tutorial into your course for students, go to Canvas Commons and click SEARCH. Then, find the Student Zoom Guide Canvas page and click it one time. Select IMPORT TO COURSE and choose all of the courses to import to.

In addition, download the Word Document tutorial and upload with students. As always, please email with any questions you have!
