Good afternoon, Canvas friends!
I've received a good number of requests for course copies and I wanted to give you some instructions on how you could do that. Please see this video for the new navigation items, grading schemes and how to copy your course over for Fall 2020:
Don't forget to take advantage of the Assignment Due Dates feature found under "Assignments". This will save you a tremendous amount of time. Also, here is a quick checklist before your students arrive:
- Have you made an announcement in your course, welcoming your students to class?
- Have you introduced yourself and provided a discussion forum for students to introduce themselves?
- Is your syllabus posted and shared with students?
- Have you grouped your assignments? Remember, what you have listed in the "Assignments" tab is a direct reflection of what appears in the gradebook. Make sure you have grouped your assignments and deleted unused assignments and empty groups.
- Have you ran the UDOIT checker? This is a final step you can do to ensure all of your content is accessibile.
- Have you scheduled Zoom hours for your students? See another blog post on best practices for setting Zoom Office Hours.
- Last, have you ran a report to see if you have any broken links? You can do this under "Settings" Link Validator.
Other questions? You can contact me directly through email at anna.catterson@heartland.edu OR come to one of our fab Canvas training sessions! Have a great semester,
Anna
