Next Round of Innovative Funds

It's with great excitement that I share the next round of Innovative Technology Grants through the Teaching and Learning Commons. The Commons has had great success with the purchases made last year and we are looking forward to creating more high-impact learning scenarios for students.The Innovative Tech grants recognize exemplary faculty's use of technology in areas of teaching and learning through face-to-face, hybrid, zoom-hybrid, or online modalities. The funds granted are designed to recognize innovation in the introduction and application of technology, including (but not limited to) mobile devices in the academic environment. A faculty member may be granted one grant per fiscal year. Yes. That's right. If you were awarded last year, you can apply again this year!

Remember, we have three different categories you can enter: 

• Category 1: Teaching improvement. Demonstrating the application of innovative educational technology for improving teaching effectiveness.
• Category 2: Classroom Innovation. Demonstrating the application of innovative technology for opportunities to increase student retention and levels of student engagement.
• Category 3: Community information outreach services. Demonstrating the application of innovative technology in community service.

Instructions and Deadline:

This initiative is open to all Heartland Community College faculty members or teams of faculty members (team entries will be treated as an individual entry with team members sharing the grant). The Technology Innovation Grant Request Form must be submitted via email to the Executive Director of Online Learning & Instructional Technologies at anna.catterson@heartland.edu no later than October 1st, 2022. 

We encourage you to contact the Commons area prior to submitting the application to receive quotes and VPATs for requests. We can help you with gathering the information you need for your application.
